About The Little Bakery

Ciao! My name is Verdiana, I am an italian pastry chef with a decade of experience working in fine dining kitchens. I moved to Tel Aviv in 2019 with my family, and found out that my son, only 9 months old at the time, was allergic to peanuts, tree nuts and sesame. It was a shock for our family, used to PB&J for breakfast and tahini on every food. As we looked for ways to manage our new lifestyle, I realized that avoiding peanuts, nuts and sesame was harder than I thought. In the land of Bamba and halva, every bakery and restaurant had sesame seeds hiding on dishes, most packaged products from the supermarket sport a label declaring “may contain traces of”.

Every grocery trip ended the same way: empty handed, crying, and angry.
Every birthday party or event was spent on the lookout, checking every food on the table, watching who touched the sesame-covered bagel chips and then put their hand in the safe chips bowl, bringing safe food with us to offer our child and distracting him, or often leaving, once the cake arrived.
The Little Bakery (formerly The Little One bakery) was born out of necessity. I needed the option of sharing a celebration with all of our friends and family, sitting at the same table. I wanted my child to feel included, I wanted to feel calm and safe around his food. And now I am delighted to give the same option for a stress-free experience to other families too.

All the ingredients I use do not contain peanuts, tree nuts or sesame. I do not use "may contain" products. You can contact me to discuss the details of my ingredients, I am here to help you feel safe and comfortable about your order.

I offer dairy, egg, and gluten free options, but my kitchen is not free from those allergens so even though I put extra effort in avoiding cross-contamination, I cannot guarantee no traces of those allergens. You can contact me to discuss your specific dietary needs and I will be happy to explore the best options for you.

I'm sorry, while I do offer gluten-free cakes, my kitchen is not gluten free and therefore not suitable for celiac.

14 days in advance is the ideal time, but the earlier the better! Some months can be very busy and if you want to be sure to secure a cake for your event, don't leave your order to the last minute!
